Appointments
The office attempts to
schedule appointments at your convenience and when time
is available. Preschool children should be seen in the
morning because they are fresher and we can work more
slowly with the child for their comfort. School children
with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the
morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an
excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum
when regular dental care is continued.
We value your time and
strive to be on time for all of our patients. We ask
that patients respect our time as well. In order for us
to maintain our daily schedule, if you are late we
reserve the right to reschedule the appointment.
Cancellations: Since appointed times are
reserved exclusively for each patient we ask that you
please notify our office 48 hours in advance of your
scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep
your appointment. Another patient who needs our care
could be scheduled if we have sufficient time to notify
them. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but
we ask for your assistance in this regard.
We do not charge a
cancellation fee; however it is our policy that if there
are two broken appointments without the required notice,
we will no longer be able to reschedule your child.
Staying with your child: We invite you to
stay with your child during all dental appointments.
Our office policy
requires that all children be accompanied by an adult in
case of any emergency.
Our Services
We offer comprehensive
dental care for children, adolescents (ages 0-18) and
individuals with special needs. Our practice focuses on
working with families to give children a positive dental
experience and help them achieve a healthy smile to
enjoy throughout their lifetime. Our services include:
-
Behavior management
with trained staff members who love to work with
children. Parents are welcome to accompany their
child throughout his/her appointments. We ask
parents to work with us towards the common goal of
creating a safe environment for everyone to work in.
-
Digital radiography (X-rays): Our
office features digital x-rays, which unlike film
x-rays, give less radiation exposure per film and
images are directly registered by computer into the
patient’s chart. Dental x-rays are important in
detecting not only cavities in the teeth, but
monitoring the proper development of the teeth and
screening for any irregularities or conditions that
may require further treatment. The amount of
radiation received in a dental x-ray examination is
extremely small and the risk is negligible. Dental
radiographs represent a smaller risk than an
undetected and therefore untreated dental problem
that could be painful or harmful to the development
of your child.
-
The “Wand”: The
Wand is a computerized injection system that allows
local anesthetic to be administered without the
traditional syringe and is generally more
comfortable for patients.
-
In-office general anesthesia:
Outpatient general anesthesia is recommended on an
individual basis and may be suitable for
apprehensive children, very young children (age 4
years or less) and children with special needs that
would not be able to tolerate dental treatment in a
usual dental office setting. General anesthesia is
performed in a hospital or outpatient setting only.
We have the privilege of working with one
board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Herbert Kloss
of Ambulatory Anesthesia Services. Dr. Kloss and his
staff periodically come to our office to take care
of our patients. You can view his website at:
www.herbertkloss.com.
Financial Policies
Payment for professional services is due at the time
dental treatment is provided. We will make every effort
to provide a treatment plan that fits your timetable and
budget while giving your child the best possible care.
We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard and
Care Credit. We charge $25 for all returned checks, and
assess finance charges for all outstanding balances
older than 30 days.
To help make your child’s
dental care financially manageable, we also offer the
option of interest-free financing through Care Credit.
Apply by calling 1-800-365-8295 or visit their website
www.CareCredit.com.
The application process is quick and easy, usually
taking about five minutes of your time. Our office staff
is also available to answer questions or assist in the
application process.
Dental Insurance:
We will bill your insurance company, however we do
require payment of your patient portion at the time of
service. The balance of your account is your
responsibility whether your insurance company pays or
not. Your insurance policy is a contract between you and
your insurance company. We are not a party to that
contract.
We bill insurance as a
service to our patients. We can also verify your
benefits and provide you with an estimate of coverage of
treatment, however, it is your responsibility to know
and understand your policy and coverage. We are not
responsible for any changes in your insurance coverage
once an estimate has been provided to you. If your
insurance company has not paid their portion in full
within 30 days, the entire balance will be your
responsibility.
Usual and Customary Rates:
Our office is committed to providing the best treatment
for our patients. Our fees are considered "usual and
customary" for our area. You are responsible for payment
regardless of your insurance company's arbitrary
determination of usual and customary rates. However, we
do have contracts with some insurance companies and
therefore have negotiated some adjustments to our fees.
Please check to see if your insurance is on the list.
Cell Phone Use
We ask that cell phones not be used in our treatment
area. You are welcome to use your phone in the waiting
area instead.
