Dr. Wong
Dr.
Alicia Wong had a very early introduction to
dentistry, as a patient! When she was an infant, her
grandmother cared for her and (unknowing of the risk of
cavities) gave her a bottle of milk to sleep with every
night. By the age of 4, Dr. Wong had large cavities in
all of her top front teeth. Luckily, Dr. Wong’s parents
were able to find a dentist to fix the front teeth
before it was too late. Since that early experience with
cavities, Dr. Wong has carefully taken care of her teeth
and has become a pediatric dentist to educate and
empower children for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Dr. Wong grew up in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan
area, in both Maryland and Virginia. She stayed close to
home for college and attended the University of Maryland
at College Park to complete her Bachelor of Science
(B.S.) in Physiology and Neurobiology. After college,
her strong interest in Public Health and working in the
community brought her to the Medical College of Virginia
in Richmond to complete her Master of Public Health
(M.P.H.). During her studies in Richmond, she met the
Director of the Dental Health Department for the State
of Virginia, Dr. Karen Day, who inspired her to continue
her education in dental school.
After visiting several dental schools, Dr. Wong decided
to complete her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) at
the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. To become a specialist in
pediatric dentistry, Dr. Wong attended the University of
Iowa Center for Leadership Training in Pediatric
Dentistry for two additional years after dental school
to work exclusively with children, adolescents and
individuals with special needs. In March of 2009, Dr.
Alicia Wong became board certified which establishes her
as a Diplomate of The American Board of Pediatric
Dentistry (ABPD) and a Fellow of the American Academy of
Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
Art of Pediatric Dentistry officially opened in January
of 2006. Dr. Wong was previously employed as an
associate pediatric dentist for Pediatric Dental
Associates in Lakewood and Westside Children’s Dentistry
in West Seattle. After these experiences, Dr. Wong
wanted her practice to bring her philosophy and beliefs
to life. She emphasizes education and prevention with
her patients and their families and strongly encourages
the Age One dental visit to give her patients a healthy
start from the beginning. Bringing in a child starting
at one year of age allows both parent and child to
develop healthy habits early enough to prevent cavities
before they start. Aside from being a pediatric dentist,
Dr. Wong is also a parent and understands your
perspective. She compassionately works with you to
establish the best oral health practices for your
family.
Dr. Alicia Wong is married to Dr. Wallace Wong, who is
an orthodontist that practices next door. You may visit
his office atmosphere at: www.bellevue-ortho.com. They
welcomed their first child, Jack, in October 2009 and
live in the Bellevue community. You may see them outside
walking in the neighborhood with their black pug, Mochi.
Dr.
Linsenmayer
Dr.
Kristi Linsenmayer has been practicing dentistry
since 1993. She is a graduate of the University of
Washington and the University of Washington School of
Dentistry. She chose to focus her career on pediatric
dentistry after seeing a large amount of oral disease
and dental decay in the population of American Indian
and Alaska Native children during her first 10 years of
practice.
In June of 2007, she completed her residency in
pediatric dentistry at the University of Washington.
During her specialty training, she also received a
Masters degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) in the field of
maternal and child health with a specific interest in
American Indian and Alaska Native health.
Her passion is to bring dental care to
populations-at-risk and she currently leads outreach
programs in various communities of Southeast Alaska. Dr.
Linsenmayer balances her schedule with patient care with
the Indian Health Service and in private practice.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Linsenmayer enjoys an
active lifestyle, which includes running, yoga and
bicycling.
